Frequently Asked Questions

Below is a listing of Frequently Asked Questions that we receive on a regular basis from our clients. Although these may not answer all of your questions, we have tried to provide a lot of information that you may find useful in case you forget to ask while you are in our offices.

What is Internal Medicine?
Internal Medicine is a primary care field that focuses on adult medical care.  The ages which an internal medicine physician, or "Internist," chooses to see can vary, however most internists working in the outpatient setting will see anyone once they have reached physical maturity.  An internal medicine physician has a broad realm of training covering both primary care problems as well as more extensive training in managing chronic medical conditions and working in the hospital setting.  This allows the internist to transition comfortably between the inpatient and outpatient settings.  An internist may at times enlist the help of a specialist to address advanced problems.  Additional details at American College of Physicians

What are your hours of operation?
8am - 5pm, Monday through Friday.  Our office is open throughout the lunch hour.

Are you accepting new patients?
Yes, we are accepting new patients.  Please call the Rock Hill office at 803-326-3000, York 803-628-4090 or Chester at 803-581-3000 to set up an appointment.

Do you have same day/walk-in appointments?
Yes, we actually set aside some time every day for same day or urgent care visits.  If there is an urgent need to see us the same day, please try to call at the start of office hours (9am) and our staff will assist you in setting up a same day appointment.

Do you have a cancellation policy?
24 hours notice of a cancellation is appreciated.  There is a $25 charge for missed appointments.  We make every effort to accommodate you for a same-day appointment if your problem is urgent.  You will be seen by the doctor, but there may be extra waiting time.  Our cancellation policy is 24 hours.

What should I bring with me to my first appointment with you?
On the day of your first visit, please arrive 15 to 20 minutes before your appointment time in order to register and provide or update any information that may be required by your insurance carrier.  Please bring any pertinent medical records with you as well as a list of your current medications.

What is your medication refill policy?
We do not renew routine prescriptions or narcotic prescriptions after hours as your records are not available for me to review.  You may leave a voice mail message with your pharmacy so that your prescription can be refilled during usual business hours.  Please do not email us with prescription refill requests.

What should I do if the office is closed and I need to speak with the doctor?
The office phones are forwarded to an answering service after hours.  In the event of an emergency, you will be directed to call 911 for assistance.  If the call is pertaining to non urgent matters such as refill requests or rescheduling of an appointment, the message will be addressed the following business day.  In all other cases, the doctor on call will be paged and will return your call within 30 minutes.  It is imperative that you unblock your phone to accept all calls.
